Ingredients and Nutrition

Are your products really Zero Net-Carb?

Yes! They are even lab tested! Most competitors claim to be zero net-carbs but they don’t have lab results to back them up. Most of these tests are done through a computer-generated analysis. This means that whatever information you put in the software is what you’re gonna get back.

If you’re the original creators, how come many other companies follow the exact same ingredients?

What most companies do is take our ingredients list from our label, change one minuscule ingredient, and claim to be a completely different recipe. It’s like they are claiming to be reinventing the wheel! Our first formula was discovered in 2003 and our second formula was discovered in 2011.

What’s the difference between your Original Zero Net-Carb Bread recipe and your Second Zero Net-Carb Bread recipe?

The original recipe is the healthiest Zero Net-Carb bread on the market. It is completely free of any chemicals and we can GUARANTEE that it will never increase any diabetic’s blood sugar. The second recipe is made with resistant starch that is chemically modified by human processing. While our original recipe is safe for diabetics, ANY product with resistant starch can raise the blood sugar of a diabetic.

Why do you use resistant starch?

Resistant starch is an approved ingredient by the FDA and is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) to use in products.

What is resistant starch (RS4)?

RS4 is a chemically modified starch that is formulated to resist digestion. It is a man-made product. This made it easier to create recipes. For non-diabetics, this does not affect their glucose. You might find it on the ingredients section of the label as modified or resistant starch or fiber

Does resistant starch raise the blood sugar of a diabetic?

We conducted tests on products containing resistant starch and observed that it increased the blood sugar levels of all the diabetics who participated. However, for individuals without diabetes, their bodies were able to compensate and the impact on their blood sugar levels was not significant.

What is the difference between a Gluten-Free Diet and a Ketogenic Diet?

A gluten free diet is a diet that excludes any and all foods containing gluten. A keto diet is a diet that reduces the amount of carbohydrates you intake and increases the amount of fat you intake. The primary purpose of a gluten free diet is to manage or treat those with celiac disease. The keto diet is mainly used for weight loss and metabolic benefits. While there may be some overlap between gluten-free and keto foods, their underlying principles and objectives differ significantly.

Does a keto diet have to be gluten-free?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: A gluten-free diet primarily caters to individuals diagnosed with celiac disease, an autoimmune condition triggered by the consumption of gluten. Combining a gluten-free approach with a ketogenic diet can present challenges due to the limited availability of foods that adhere to both sets of dietary restrictions. However, it is important to note that a ketogenic diet does not inherently require gluten avoidance.

Should I follow a gluten-free diet?

The FDA recommends that celiac patients follow a gluten-free diet but it is not specifically recommended to non celiac patients. According to John Hopkins Medicine, “If you cut all gluten out of your diet, there’s a risk that you could miss out on nutritious whole grains, fiber, and micronutrients. Getting enough whole grains in your diet is especially important if you’re at risk for heart disease or diabetes.”

It is also important to note that it is not an effective way to lose weight. There are much healthier ways to go about losing weight. According to Providence, “As we’ve seen with numerous fad diets, anyone can lose weight when cutting an entire food group from their diet – the trick is how to keep it off once the food restriction gets old.” A gluten-free diet may be a quick fix, but afterward, the weight will eventually come back.
